As a Knoxville family photographer, one of the hardest parts of my job isn’t choosing the perfect backdrop or helping you coordinate outfits—it’s deciding whether the weather will cooperate on the day of your session. This is especially true during the busy fall photography season and Christmas photo sessions, when everyone is excited to capture those once-a-year memories. At Taryn Yager Photography, I take that decision seriously because I know how much these photos mean to you and your family.
Why Weather Matters for Knoxville Photography Sessions
In East Tennessee, the forecast can change by the hour. One minute the skies look clear, and the next we’re watching storm clouds roll in. While damp or wet ground is a normal part of the season (and something we can often work around), rain itself is a dealbreaker. Cameras, lighting, and your beautiful fall or Christmas outfits just don’t mix well with steady showers.
How I Decide on Weather for Your Session
To give you the best chance at a stress-free experience, I typically make my final weather call around noon on the day of your session. By that time, the forecast is more reliable, and I can confidently make the best choice possible. My goal is always to ensure your photos turn out beautiful while keeping everyone comfortable and safe.
Fall and Christmas Photos in Knoxville
This season is one of my absolute favorites—fall leaves, cozy sweaters, Christmas trees, twinkling lights, and timeless portraits of your family together. Whether you’re booking a family photography session, newborn photos, or a holiday mini session, I’ll always do my very best to make the right call with the weather so you can relax and focus on making memories.
Wet grass or chilly mornings are a normal part of the season, but please know that if rain is in the forecast, your Knoxville photo session will be rescheduled. At the end of the day, my priority is capturing images you’ll treasure forever, not fighting against the rain.
When you book with Taryn Yager Photography, you’re not just getting a photographer—you’re getting someone who understands how important these photos are and who will always put care into making the best weather decisions possible.
Keeping you up to date with some of my most recent work and thoughts.
